The Early Church's Interpretation of Justification
The early church tends to focus both on the forensic and effective senses of justification. They will talk about it as the forgiveness of sins, renovation and transformation of the heart. But there is not a clear distinction between what some later theologians will make justification say. One says you're justified by faith, and one says you're not; incompatible doesn't work.
