Lewis's High Regard for the Bible

I think he says somewhere, maybe even in mere Christianity, that the Bible is a step away from the direct experience of God. But nevertheless, it is the closest thing that we have, especially in, you know, in human writing. Lewis was a committed and regular reader of the Bible all the days of his life. And so his own high regard for the scripture, I think, is is imitable. He wanted to let the words speak in many, many ways that the medium would lead him.
