A generation ago, you were going to go do hardcore biblical work. Do we always have to rebuild the doctrine of the Trinity from the ground up or is there a sense in which we could presuppose that as part of orthodoxy and then use that to control our exegesis? So for me, it's definitely contextual, right? There is the Baptist context of, show me this in the Bible. We don't need to reinvent the wheel. The earliest Baptists all cared about creeds and confessions. They defended Nicaea, they quoted church fathers. And so I think part of it is, yeah, I'm coming from a context where that is part of what needs to be done
