The Importance of Bias Bounties in Governance
When I was at Twitter, we actually held the first algorithmic bias bounty and this was at a conference called DEF CON. The red teaming exercise is when experts or individuals who are outside of companies are given access to a company's models in order to identify harms. We're doing the largest ever generative AI large language model red team. And we are giving basically anybody at DEF CON access for 50 minutes to compete in what's called a capture the flag. All of this is completely untried in territory and responsible AI but it's been really exciting.
