I think one way that it touches people is we get so caught up in the demands of the day, like we're being carried along by the momentum of the day's demands. I have to look at the idolatries where the thing, how can I set aside a rendezvous with God and then habituate it through the day? And it seems to me that everything Eckhart says is an invitation to that because you can't skim read Meister Eckhart. It's the one liner that gets you. He says it and you have to stop. The pedagogy requires you to stop in a kind of a patient and then you discover it's luminous.
