The International Astronomical Union has designated 88 official constellations in the sky. A constellation is the region of the sky, like the physical area that we have broken up the sky into. Asterisms are the shapes that you can make by connecting dots between the stars. You can choose to rename your constellations and focus on Conus Major or Minor.
Is it time to update the constellations? On this episode, Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Matt Kirshen dive into astrophysics, folklore, and our ancient connection to the stars with astrophysicist Moiya McTier, Ph.D.
