I think I was just a little shattered because until then it felt like things were headed in the right direction. What he taught me more than anything is that communication happens on an emotional level. That what you're trying to do when you communicate in politics is elicit an emotional response, not an intellectual response. He has a way of making stuff simple and accessible that I think is unrivaled in American politics.
