The Importance of Culture War Issues in British Politics
When we co-founded the party in 2015 nobody asked about these issues on the doorstep but you're also seeing it. Some of it is driven very deliberately whether it's politicians deliberately sparking them or groups seeking advantage. I think British conservatives have got a right to contest cultural issues in Britain that come from the right. But they are going to be less ethno-nationalist than European populist conservatism because they're more ethno- nationalist, ground in Poland, Hungary and Italy. And so if you've got those differences, you're going to have to come up with a conservatism for Britain.
