The Bloody Footprints
Tom drives to the main family home and parks in the driveway. It's a ranch style house of the sort built in the seventies, combination of brick and vinal siding. He puts on her bloody dress and covers it with her coat, and returns to his car. But when he reaches for the knob, he finds the door ajar. Tom nudges the door open quietly, cautiously, and then peers into the split foyer. A set of bloody footprints lead from the deep shadows pooled at the bottom of the stairs, across the landing and up to the floor above. To his right there's a formal living room, stiff, floral printed furniture that clearly no one ever sits
