Validity in the Practical Realm
There's a difference between a theory that you will be willing to accept and likely to accept or find congenial to accept. So getting them to accept it is just part of the game, just as much as it orienting them in an improving manner. If I've produced something that I know they can't, for instance, if it's spoken in a language that they don't know, then I can be sure they won't accept it. But it could still be a valid theory. So I think validity in the practical realm is practical.
