A Brief History of Modern Buildings

Mediaeval society was one of relatively simple hierarchies. You don't want to be rebuilding whitehall palace every couple of years when it rots, would you? So it needed to be easy to replace buildings. Keep them simple is not stupid. But a caution for later is that we tend to over focus on technology and practicality when thinking about building. And so duly, the village slowly crept down the road.
