Asteroid Reactors Are Getting Started

The asteroid has a population of over a few million and with centuries of breeding and advanced medicine they expect to have a pretty big colony when the time comes. They're essentially the opposite of post-scarcity civilization the traditional sense since they have a set amount of fuel and resources but their losses to production and consumption of recycling inefficiencies are small enough that their engineers claim they could coast all the way to the Draco dwarf galaxy  a quarter of a million light years from home. There's some debate on if they really have enough fuel to run their reactors that long especially as leakage happens although there is an automated refinery and railgun system to launch fuel pods to capture cousin vessels.
