This is a picture of the M87 black hole, what we call the first image of the black hole. We released this picture in April 2019 and it comes from our 2017 observing campaign. The light you're looking at in this picture is 55 million years old, which is pretty cool. When it left the black hole, the first novels were starting to appear on planet Earth.
