Education and housing are two areas that venture capital hasn't touched as much as, say, health care. Education is one of these things that i think coming out of coveand people really realize that we are still rating on a nineteenth century model. The counter argument to investing in the physical world is that it's not pure soffware. Sometimes it's a lot easier to innovate in the virtual world than the physical. These companies are just harder to build. As we like to say, like these companies go deeper down the j curve, they often don't look that good at series.

We sit down with a16z General Partner Katherine Boyle to discuss investing in “American Dynamism”, why it’s so important and why now is the right time to pursue it. Katherine has a fascinating background, beginning her career as a reporter at The Washington Post before entering the VC world first at Founders Fund, then General Catalyst and now a16z.
