Why Schools Don't Use the Word Dyslexia

Rob and Maggie Gibson wanted their son Eddie to get an IEP. But the school says he has passing grades and average standardized test scores. Many public schools refuse to acknowledge dyslexia, even though there are effective ways to help people with it learn to read. The US Department of Education issued a special letter reminding schools that not only can they use that word, they should use it if it can help them tailor an appropriate education plan for a student with dyslexia.
