The Importance of Self-Torture in Art
Nietzsche says that truly creative people give forth creative works just like the fruiting of a tree, fruit falling off a tree basically. If you have to strain yourself to make art, then it's not for you to do. It's almost like Socrates willingly clapping himself in prison because you're You're imposing very strict limitations onto the medium. The philosopher is actually the shaper of men. That's his medium. A guy like Plato sees and understands that he expresses it when he says, art imitates life. These these imitations of life are dangerous, and they take you further away.
