The Benefits of Thinking About Death

Research has shown that people who think about their deaths tend to be happier and more fulfilled than people who avoid the topic altogether. For some, acknowledging our mortality makes us more focused on what truly matters in life. People who have a strong sense of spirituality or religiosity are less likely to experience anxiety and depression related to thoughts of death. Those who've had significant life challenges may be more negatively impacted by thoughts about dying.
