I.E. such game would not count toward a team's regular season record, and a player's or team's performance in such game will not count toward regular season statistics. I wonder if that could backfire a little for fans like, why should we care about that? It doesn't bother me if someone loses out on 500K. If nothing else, it's $6 million or $7.5 million going to them instead of their billionaire owners. And they're also gonna get paid. They're getting paid a lot of money to play that one extra game.
