Three climbers died after failing to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. John Krakauer chronicled their ordeal in his book, Interthin Air. The three men were part of Rob Hall's expedition and had been told it was going to be a long way back. They turned around when they knew there wasn't enough time for them to get to the top.
