The Air Force Learjet and the Emergency Landing
An American air traffic controller who was on that military base also helped coordinate a an Air Force Learjet to fly towards this Philippine Airlines flight. They visually check for damage on the outer hole of the plane and to help them verify that their landing gear were in place. And while this was going on, the autopilot actually also stopped responding to raises commands and the aircraft had flown past Okinawa. So Captain Eduardo Reyes and crew made an emergency landing at Okinawa's Naha Airport one hour after the bomb exploded.
