Film Review - David Bowie - The Opening Montage
I wanted to create a film that was textured and fragmented in which the audience was invited to draw their own associations with the images. The many of these images are some of the more of the psychotic images of the 20th century and we're all gonna have different relationships with them. There were three decisions made at the beginning that impacted the overall look and design of the film. One was this notion that I was going to incorporate the art and the artists that influenced and inspired David as visual reference points throughout the film. And thirdly, give me greater latitude to visualize intangible moments, if you will. For example, and the lead into cracked actor, David had just moved to Los Angeles.
