Zwadi: One of the commissioners on the drafting committee actually got off the podium and stated that even though he was in favor of changing the definition of death, that we shouldn't be messing with this because we're going to lose uniformity. Zwadi: There's no consensus in the medical community. We've got groups like the American Academy of Neurology who state that the neuro-respiratory standard is okay. And then other statements, so for example, Catholic nurses are no longer willing to accept brain death as a reality.
