The Crimean War and the Naval Arena Is Crucial in Understanding This Whole Conflict
Naval warfare and the naval arena is absolutely crucial in understanding this whole conflict. In order to get to the Crimea, the British Army has to get on ships run by the Navy. Most of the heavy artillery used in the Siege of Sevastopol is naval. Right alongside the thin red line at the Battle of Balaklava were the Royal Marines of the fleet who were backing up the highlanders. The main theater of the war in the Baltic is entirely naval. There's very little violence there because the Russians won't come out to fight as they don't need to invade Russia.
