During american revolution, authorities would forcibly disarm you if you didn't swear a loyalty oath to protect your governmentYou could keep a gun in your house, though in boston in 17 86, you couldn't keep a loaded one there. And later on, these rules also extended to places where, due to hollywood, we tend not to think of as heavily restricted, gun wise.
