The Importance of Water in the Story of Israel

Water historically in the biblical literature represents the power to purify or to provide deliverance but also to destroy evil. Water is used all throughout the scriptures to tell the story of God's nature, his character and his ability to have dominion over what would seem like the wildness of the enemy. In our story, the same is true, water is always symbolic of something generative, something life giving.
