The Key Event and the First Plot Point

The key event is the protagonist's response to the inciting event. In leaving the normal world for the adventure world, she is at least making a choice to do something about the situation. The first plot point proper is then about the consequences of that choice. As with all good story developments, what the character suffers should always be a direct result of his own choices.
