The Soft Landing Question - I Can't Answer That
The question was something like this, if the economy starts to slow materially, will you stop tightening, even if inflation is still above your target? That's the 64 trillion dollar question. And that really threw pawll for a loop, because he knows he can't answer that question. So what did he do? He completely dodged the question. Now, he answered it, but he didn't answer the question. The reason powell needs preparation is he has to try to figure out in advance what quest ons are going to be asked and then come up with a plausible lie.
