How to Decide Where to Draw the Line on Prostitution
I don't suggest that forming these judgments is an obvious matter. These are all likely to be contested matters, whether we're talking about the buying and selling of kidneys for transplantation or renting wombs as some rather crudely put the practice of contract surrogacy. It's taking a political decision with moral implications for the moral and social norms that govern social life. I favor a more explicit engagement. The default position essentially is to regard everyone as a consumer.
