So those eugenesis basically re defined both heredity and race, and they rigidly associated them back then with each other. And i think an important piece of the shiftan aninow, you're picking up on the snow of a shift from no physiognomic differences, like hair texture that could be measured,  to what is essentially to the lay person, and even at that time, to most scientists, a an invisible entity called the gene. Ah.
