The Dunning Kruger Effect
The Dunning Kruger effect is the idea that people overestimate their knowledge of a topic. When asked how they think they did on a test, everyone thinks they're above average. The less knowledgeable you are about a topic, the more you overestimate your relative knowledge - both absolute as well as relative knowlege.
