What Is the Meaning of Mourning?

Mourning is a stance of, you know, I'm not going to let anybody matter to me enough so that should they go out of my life, I'll just move on. One of the things we can lose and mourn are ideals. It doesn't just have to be people who we lose. We can fall in love with an ideal of some way of life and then feel that in itself is threatened. Freud wrote this essay called on transience. He was trying to come to grips with the fact that we're all going to die.
