Australia was one of the signatories, but didn't ratify the Kyoto Protocol until 2007. To understand what helps spur on this revival, Kamal says you need to go back to the Kyoto Protocol. And it's that indigenous knowledge, which has been key to a collaboration involving Kamal and her colleagues at the Darwin Centre for Bushfire Research.
