The Benefits of CRISPR for Sickle Cell Disease
CRISPR is already being used as a drug essentially, as a medical intervention in adult humans. It's being used in people who have particular genetic conditions like sickle cell disease and its related condition, phalasemia. The use of the technology there is beautifully elegant. We're seeing patients who have now gone over a year and who have not had a single sickle cell crisis - their quality of life has been transformed.
