The Returns of African Objects
Many western institutions would wait until any competing claims within nigeria or elsewhere were resolved before objects were returned. There are many non state actors in these conversations, including the royal court of benin but also scores of other institutions that hold african at as you a lott ed. So much what was taken is sitting there in the museums. One thing we'll have to do is to lower our standards of evidence. We're never going to have an incident that is a better document than the benebronses and it's been hard to return them.
