The Fallacy of Perfectionism in LDS Apology

The perfectionist fallacy describes an instance where a solution to a problem is rejected because it doesn't solve the problem perfectly. Shifting goalposts is a fallacy that's similar to special pleading and it's characterized by changing the complaint in such a way as to remove, as to narrow the question so that answers given to previous question no longer fit category. An appeal to ignorance simply put is a claim that because there is no evidence to the contrary something must be true or on the flip side of that because something has ever been proven true it must be false. And so while we should always be willing to use critical thinking skills to evaluate possible claims we should be wary of saying that we don't know
