Helmode Level Rushes

John Aksen on Discord: How do you come up with the sword discord design for the Helmode level rushes? It seems like one of those Miyamoto ideas that solves two problems. One, basically a limited use get out of jail free card for when you make a mistake and two, once you stop making mistakes, a creative and open ended tool for short cutting levels are super hard. And can you explain what this is too, please? Because I didn't recognize it.
