The History of Pirates
The captain had no authority invested in him by anybody apart from the crew. Crews did sometimes elect their captains and there were a series of checks and balances to protect them. The idea of a pirate ship is a model for a full of society, he says. It's almost sons, if you know, they'd get five weeks holiday a year and they're in their final salary pension.
