The Importance of Timekeeping
The idea that we have where all hours are in equal length was meaningless for faith-based time. The system called unequal hours was used which is you divide the daylight into 12 and the nighttime into 12 but that was no good for astronomers they needed equal hours. There's never really been anything that's been a competition until the 18th century when decimal time was strongly pushed.
