The Effects of Sleep Deprivation on Cognitive Function
When people are sleep deprived, they have an impaired ability to effectively communicate during complex individual and collaborative tasks. If you work with a child who is 13 or younger, not in high school yet, they need 9 to 11 hours of sleep a night. Sleep deprivation disrupts the prefrontal control that your executive higher order thinking over your medial temporal lobe structures that support memory and emotion.
