Exploring the historical context of women fighting for their rights, the chapter discusses the misconception of women as homemakers, their diverse work during the 19th century, the discomfort caused by their organization and activism during the Industrial Revolution, the criminalization of abortion, encouragement for white women to have more children, gaslighting and abuse for nonconformity, and the subsequent removal and incarceration of disobedient women.
