The Archaeology of the Temple of the Antirum
The waterlogged conditions had preserved timber and other organic products. Archaeologists were able to find the wattle work that defines the edges of the benches where worshippers would have sat. The interpretation of the Antirum is that this is possibly where people being initiated into one of the grids of Mithraism would have both joined the congregation, but also a place where they may have gone through some of these ordeals.
