McCarthy's Not So Fearful of the Speaker's Discharge Petition
McCarthy needed 216 votes to become speaker. He's not so concerned about the motion to vacate and bringing that down to one member. The far right of the conference holds much more sway over their ability to pass things with Republican votes alone. McCarthy could have made a deal with Democrats on the, on the speakers fight as well but didn't for a reason.
