Silicon Valley and Wall Street are still some of the most morally odious places to work. They thrive precisely when they're taking shit out of everyone else's mouths. The idea that intelligently investing so that you can maximize the amount of good you individually do makes almost no sense, says Haskell. It's hard for you to defend working for McKinsey as they help authoritarian governments cover up genocides or figure out smart nimble ways to effectively surveil populations.
