Trotsky's War on the Balkans
Trotsky was worried that the powers in the Balkans were headed for a measuring of strength on the all European scale, which can mean nothing short of a European war. He saw that coming and various points when he's talking to Bulgarian or Serbian interlocutors in the book or in his dispatches is he notices that they're allowing their nationalism to kind of override their socialist anti-war impulses. And Trotsky's very worried about that too.
