Bante's Dharma of Sangha
Sankarajita founded this new Buddhist movement and order in a very particular time and place. It was the midst of a cultural revolution in the UK in the 1960s and 1970s. And there are a whole lot of ways in which Bante re-articulated very traditional Buddhist teachings in new forms with new principles. So we are neither monastic nor lay, but primarily committed to going for refuge. We have equal ordinations and equal spiritual trainings for men and women. This is a principle that needs to take gender diversity more into account.
