The Importance of Prior Knowledge

I keep pushing that the publishers and so on to do with the textbooks is, you know, when you have those skills tests and all that stuff at the end of the week. And I can remember any number of instances where teachers would say, well,you know, I don't think they understood the story, but they're really good at their predictions now. But if you're going to spend that time having those boys and girls read oftenReally good literature and often content rich text in a social studies book doesn't worry about whether the kids actually learned it. Let's be building knowledge for everything that the kids are going to be learning going forward.
