Is There a Scientific Culture?
I think we need to be very clear on how ideas and their makers are important in the world. I'm fascinated by misunderstanding, one of the reasons why these arguments at this level of generality can be so powerful is that they appeal to so many different people for so many different reasons. They become the source of a certain kind of consensus that is very empty in a sense in terms of having specific content. And then when people fill it in with all sorts of their own content, you know, I would just straight up reject that.
