Are We Able to Reason Better Morally?
"I worry that if you don't have this recipe, that some of the notions that you talk about won't be given the status that they should," he says. "In most cases, we don't know exactly what is the moral things to do." He asks: Is it in any given situation an action is right if and only if it either maximizes utility or it conforms with all the duties of the agent? And then there's a tension here where we generally think lying is bad, but we want to justify it because we want to defend our morality.
