The History of Nuclear Power Development in the United States

US nuclear power can really be traced back to US government research and development programs. Most utilities are private companies or even state owned companies that serve a region. There's no direct federal coordination of those activities so what is that allowed was each one of these utilities to choose their favorite reactor technology. The US nuclear fleet right now is highly non standardized I think it's actually probably the most non standardized global fleet anywhere.
