The Language of the Anglo Saxons
In ten 66, the anglo saxons were speaking this real early type of english. That was a mixture of kind of latin and germanic languages. And then the normans ruled. They're talking half french, half norse, but the normans rule. So if you look at food, beef is called beef once it's on a plate,. but once it's in e field, it's called a cow or a bull. Poultry comes from polet, a french word. Chicken is, i think it comes foann anglo saxon. The language they spoke would be called middle English. There's a book called the canterbury tales by a fellow
